Fredrick A. Simmons, 64, of Zionsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2014. He was born to the late James E. and Isabelle Simmons. Fred graduated from University of Cincinnati and Miami University (Ohio) and was the owner of Simmons Architects, LLC. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the American Institute of Architects. He is survived by his wife, Raelinn Spiekhout MD; son, Erik Simmons; and ex-wife, Debbie Scott. His sister Carol Lynn Smedley and brother Michael (Jim) Simmons also survive him.
He was an avid boater, an expert marksman, and a humorous man. He was quick with a joke to break up tension in many situations. And his diet shouldn’t be published, so we won’t. But boy, his blood work was always perfect!
A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of Flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society of which Fred has been a member since the early 1980’s.

My heart is heavy in hearing this very sad news. I also had, as Angie Pell Jacoby stated, the privilege to have had worked with Fred from 1994 to 1998. I have regrets that I had not maintained contact with him over the past few years. He was the best man I have worked for in my 40 year architectural career and I have worked with many other architects. My condolences to the family and prayers for him and you. FIRST OF ALL I’D LIKE TO SAY HOW SORRY MY WIFE AND I ARE FOR YOUR LOSS. OUR PRAYERS WILL BE WITH EVERY FAMILY MEMBER AND HIS FRIENDS IN THE COMING MONTHS. IT’S SURPRISING HOW MANY TALENTS FRED HAD AS I READ SOME OF THE PASSAGES PEOPLE LEAVE. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH ALL OF US ARE IN AGREEMENT THAT FRED WAS A VERY GENEROUS MAN, ESPECIALLY TO ME DURING MY 37 YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT.
